It’s Hip to be Square
Move over Huey Lewis and make room for Dr. Justin Nystrom, the Oxonians newest champion.
Dr. Justin Nystrom, a professor of History and Southern Studies here at the University of Mississippi, has devoted his Southern Studies 402 class to the Oxonians Project!
If you don’t believe me, check out the class blog.
Students in his class have been asked to research the life and times of particular buildings on or near the Oxford Square and create short documentaries about these historic places. (Many of their project proposals are posted on the class blog, linked above)
No doubt this infusion of interest and energy in the project will help us reach our ultimate goal of finishing the work begun so long ago by Oxonians inspiration Dr. Cherie Friedman and creating the Interactive Online Museum of the Oxford Square.
We have a long way to go, but with folks like Dr. Nystrom and his enthusiastic students, we’ll get there soon enough.
